Ukraine continues to exert every effort to implement the Association Agreement with the EU

 


Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal chaired a regular meeting of the Commission for Coordination of the Implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.


The state of implementation of the agreements reached during the 22nd EU-Ukraine Summit and preparations for the next Summit in October this year were discussed with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna, First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Matti Maasikas, the Representatives of the Office of the President, the Government and lawmakers.

The Prime Minister dwelled on that the 22nd Summit and the 7th meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council identified important priorities and directions for enhancing bilateral cooperation.

 

Our overriding priority is a joint readiness to further deepen the integration processes in relations between Ukraine and the European Union, in particular the gradual integration of Ukraine into the EU internal market. Of course, we are working hard on our key task – the implementation of the Association Agreement

As the Head of Government stressed, in the second quarter of this year, 22 priority European integration draft acts were approved – of which 7 draft laws were approved and 15 Government acts were adopted. In addition, 4 more draft acts in the field of European integration will be submitted to the next meeting of the Government. Denys Shmyhal also emphasized the strengthening of cooperation with the Parliament.

In the second quarter, the work on the support of priority bills was really speeded up. 11 important laws have been endorsed. In addition, 25 draft laws were adopted in the first reading. Most of the draft laws have been elaborated by the line Committees and are ready to be submitted to the plenary sessions of the Parliament

During the meeting, the Commission approved a scheduled plan of 52 draft acts in the field of European integration, which must be submitted for consideration by the Government by the end of November. The table with the list of priority bills in the field of European integration, which needed to be considered by the Verkhovna Rada as a matter of priority, was also updated.

Such a systematic and inclusive approach to planning, coordination and control of European integration rulemaking allows us to achieve real results and strategic priorities that are not left without the attention of our European partners, and brings us closer to the big European family

The Prime Minister thanked attendees for the performed work to implement the priorities in the context of preparations for the 23rd EU-Ukraine Summit and stressed the importance of continuing thorough work to ensure the high performance of the event at the highest level.

The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for December 2021
